Every Monday night from 7pm-10pm, this stylish, tucked away bar showcases some of Newcastle’s best acoustic talent. Host Kieran Taylor on acoustic guitar, accompanied by nearly Dennis on bass, welcomes in the three hours of music with a cover of Folsom Prison Blues by Johnny Cash. Alongside Taylor’s lyrical voice, the walking bass, introduces the audience to a night of soothing acoustic music.
Next on the mic was an unaccompanied, nearly Dennis. The singer’s gravelly voice and his individual blues cover of Buck Rogers by Feeder, introduces the audience to something completely unique. As is customary at Beers & Buskers, musicians from all over can surprise us with their music. Unsurprisingly, this is exactly what occurred last Monday at Passing Clouds. A new busker took over the microphone singing Ray LaMontagne’s You Are The Best Thing and captured the audience’s attention with his high-pitched, passionate and soulful voice. Each song as impressive at the last, this player encapsulated just what Need Music’s Beers & Buskers is about - new, emerging talent in the North East, accessible to everyone. This is a must-see music event and definitely the best Open Mic Night on a Monday in Newcastle!
